Saddest thing about being DFd

i always enjoyed being kind.

when someone genuinely needed a hand or what not, it felt good to help family or friends.. i don't really miss them anymore.

i faded over two years ago, so they long ago shunned me.i think about them less and less and have even forgotten some names.i did enjoy some of the friendships and the association.

I was never a JW nor anyone in my family, only introduced to the religion through an Elder but I care very deeply about 2 people and go out of my way for them. Actually the Elder lectured me about this on several occasions. For 62 years (ok, I am not one to wake up very quickly ) I continually came to the rescue of my mother (alcoholic and prescription drug abuse) and sister (prescription drug abuse ). I provided lots of financial and emotional support to both of them while taking massive amounts of physical and emotional abuse from them. Finally for my own health I moved 4 states away and cut off communication. My children have referred to them as extremely toxic.

I have girlfriends who are closer to me the my mother or sister ever were.

what pranks could you/would you/ have you played in the kingdom hall?.

i have never but here's two i've thought of, 1) replace the liquid soap with glue 2) smear nutella everywhere in the bathroom!.

Different organization but we had someone who for every big event would contributed $50.00 or $100.00 in one dollar bills the catch was he very neatly folded each one into the smallest origami bird or plane and we would have sit there unfold them.

Kingdom Consolidation and Sales are coming – Reliable Source

i heard form a reliable source that a kingdom hall consolidation is going to be happening in the us.

currently they are looking at every kingdom hall to see if they could and should sell it.

any kingdom hall that has not been updated and is in a bad location (long driveway, not in a visible location etc...) will be sold.

Have you checked to see if your KH been transferred to the Watchtower? I remember in prior threads this was supposed to be done many months ago. Also, do you know how to check the county accessed value of the KH? That is if all of you are in the US.

Not a JW but curious what is that normal county accessed value of a single not the double KH in the US?

And didn't I read in one of these threads that the titles of the KH was to be recorded in the WTS name rather then the congregation name?

Washington DC for 50 years, then Virginia and now Tampa Fl.

Grreatteacher you are right DC traffic is the worst, the interstates in that area are nothing but massive parking lots. Average speed limit on Saturday on I95 in VA was always 5 mph.

My First Birthday.....

i awoken today and realised immidiately i'm 44 today... and after 3 years of being out, decided to acknowledge my birthday.... i'm off out to treat myself to a big hearty breakfast with cup of tea in the local weatherspoon's by the massive pond full of weird bird-life, later today i'm giving myself a gift of a 90 minute relaxation session in a float tank down by canary wharf in london.... only really have 2 close friends (it's a slow process trusting people agian) and they probably won't be able to see me today, but i'm sure i'll have a belated surprise from them both.... the first thing i did when i remembered was to rush to the computer, connect to the web and put on stevie wonder's 'happy birthday', as i listen to it, tears stream down my face... all those years of my life stolen ' but..... i'm free....'.

Never a JW. I thank everyone here, it has been learning experience. As I stated in my original statement in the 5 years of conversations with the Elder he told me very little about the JWS then he gave me the book on Families when I got to the part on raising and educating children. The Rebel and the Fighter had a mighty lot to say to the Elder and that went over like a lead balloon.

I am very polite about it but I do approach the older males when they are handing out literature normally ask 3 or 4 questions about educating, socializing and such of their children making sure the conversation is overhead. Then I do remind him how wrong it is to lie. Funny how they never return to those sites again. Slowly I am eliminating all possible distribution sites from our community. No more converts into this cult.

Have you ever had your oven door explode?

the other day the glass in my oven door exploded and sent glass into the next room, fortunately i wasn't peering in at the time.

about a year go the previous oven door shattered one morning.

the oven was cold.

Sparrowdown saying even in my hair reminded me of an incident that happened to us 35 years ago while camping in the Keys. We were sound asleep and heard this little ping the next thing we knew we had safety glass covering us. The big plate glas window right at our heads shattered into a million pieces, we never laughed so hard, it took us forever to find and clean up all that glass.
